Commuter book review: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
As I involuntarily eavesdrop on a few public transit conversations this morning, I ask myself:
What if my fellow commuters were Stieg Larsson characters instead?
Rather than the tourists yammering nonstop about the breakfast buffet of their last vacation, I d be listening to Lisbeth Salander talk about how she used her considerable wits to overcome a Dickensian upbringing and hack through any and every network firewall.
Instead of listening to two interns yammer on and on about how essential they are to democracy as we know it, I could listen to ace disgraced reporter Blomqvist share his secrets to bedding every female character between the ages of 20 to 60.
But this will never happen for 3 reasons. The previously mentioned characters are: 1. Fictional, 2. Swedish, and 3. Usually working on projects with a high risk of death, maiming and/or disgrace (so unlikely to be sharing them with an audience of dozens of commuters).
But it would be a hell of a lot more interesting.
