Goodness in September

Ten things about the must-see documentary, "The September Issue"

10. Anna Wintour is not a bitch. She is a busy woman running her magazine.

9. If you want vivacious, warm and fuzzy, Andre Leon-Talley's office is right down the hall. Look for the cape.

8. If you go in to meet with Anna, you'd better have a sound defense for your choice of accessory, dress, story angle, fashion spread, or why you didn't shoot a certain agreed-upon Italian landmark on your expensive junket. You are working for Vogue, for God's sake.

7. You may disregard the above mandate, however, if you are "The World's Most Interesting Photographer."

6. It's really pointless to try to become as skinny as a model. They just aren't built like the other 99.9% of the world.

5. Brush, condition and trim your hair before your cover photo shoot. You're being photographed for Vogue, for God's sake.

4. Sometimes art (the gorgeous Galliano spread) is killed in for the sake of commerce. Sometimes art (the jumping model and photographer) prevails. It's the eternal creative conflict.

3. Even though it's a multi-billion dollar industry employing thousands and providing human beings with warmth, comfort, self-expression and the means to conceal their nudity, many people will still find fashion frivolous.

2. Every workplace has its issues.

1. "You must be tough." Words of wisdom from creative director/resident goddess Grace Coddington.
